SPRING GARDEN BAND

Lisa A. Chantiles-Shermeyer, Flute

Lisa was a devoted Spring Garden Band Member for 27 years.

She was a student of Spring Garden Band solo clarinetist
and Assistant Conductor Charles Schuman.

Services were held Saturday, November 17, 2001,
at the Episcopal Church of St. John, 140 N. Beaver St., York.

Dr. John P. Whitely, M.D., Trumpet, Baritone, and Tuba

John was a devoted Spring Garden Band Member for 14 years.

He was a member of the White Rose Squares, the Barbershop Brass, the Emigsville
Band, and founded the Dockenspeilers, a physicians' German band.

He was a member of the York Hospital since 1968, and chairman of the department
of pathology from 1987 to 1997, and medical director of the York Hospital School
of Medical Technology from 1991 to 1997.

Services were held Sunday, December 16, 2001,
at the First Presbyterian Church of York, 225 East Market St., York.

Robert L. Snyder, Trombone

Bob was a devoted Spring Garden Band member for 54 years. He was a music teacher
in the York City School District for 32 years. He served in the U.S. Army during
World War II. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. He was an arranger
and composer for the Spring Garden Band and York Symphony Orchestra. He was a founder
of York Youth Symphony; a choir director and composer in the Memorial United Church
of Christ and Yorkshire United Methodist Church. He founded the Festive 8 and the
Gesundheits. He was a 1941 graduate of West Chester University and received his
master's degree from the University of Michigan.
